What should be the next Zoella Book Club picks?

So recently I saw that 8 new books were going to be added to The Zoella Book Club and it got me thinking about what books I want to see added.

Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall
After the first release of books the theme of mental health was clear so what better a book to add to the lineup than an own voices mental health story. That way it is also more educational as it is coming from someone with experience of it. Most of all, I just love this book and want everyone to read it!

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman
The main reason this should be there is the amount of diversity within it's 400 or so pages: this is incredibly important as in the initial 8 books the amount of diversity was minimal and with the wide reaching platform Zoella provides more diversity is necessary because not everyone is white, straight and cisgender.

The Art Of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
Linking to the last point of not everyone being cisgender is the reason this book is needed in the book club. It is the story of two trans teens, a trans boy and a trans girl, both at different points in their transitioning process, this story provides education to us all improving everyone as people and if it had the potential to reach that larger audience I believe it would be so useful for so many people regardless of their personal gender identity.

Asking For It by Louise O'Neill
Prior to this point the books in the book club have all been quite easy to follow storylines with loveable characters, isn't it about time for something a bit more hard-hitting? Asking For It has a very important plot about Rape Culture in a small village  that needs to be shared to educate people on the world around us. The Zoella Book Club would be a great place for it to go as the book would become as well known as it should be! Also, this is IrishYA, which never gets enough publicity as a subsection of YA, so hopefully it would bring more awareness to IrishYA in general too.

The Next Together by Lauren James
I loved this book and the reason I want it to be in the Zoella book club is quite a selfish one really, I want to see it get a new cover so I have an excuse to buy another copy of it! I guess an actually good reason to add this is the fact this isn't a contemporary as I believe every other Zoella Book Club pick so far has been. It would be nice to add more genre variety as not everyone wants to read contemporaries. Also, this book is written in many forms including parts as powerpoints, texts etc. making it a lot more engaging by there being more mediums of writing not just chapters.

The Rest Of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness
So far there has only been female authors in the Zoella Book Club showing a lack of diversity so a male author should be added to the line-up and who better than Patrick Ness, he has so many award-winning books and is a well-loved author among the online reader community. The Rest Of Us Just Live Here is a great book with a good message of you don't have to be the hero of the story to enjoy life, which so many people need to live by.

Kill The Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky
In the Zoella Book Club Fangirl has already shown the positive side to fandom, but Fangirl does't include any of the negatives of fandom and that is why Kill The Boy Band should be added as it does show that darker side to fandom. Kill The Boy Band incorporates a lot of dark humour  with a light-hearted plot to create an amazing book I think should be read by more people.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Anyone who has read the book Fangirl has already been introduced to the wonderful characters Simon and Baz and the World Of Mages. Carry On is telling their story. Carry On has a very similar story to Harry Potter, which most people have read and loved, so it would be a nice nostalgia read for all Harry Potter fans and Fangirl fans alike. In my opinion this has a better story than Harry Potter so that should be reason enough for it to be a Zoella Book Club pick, to see what all the fuss is about.

Thanks for reading. What books would you like to see added to the Zoella Book Club?
